ENDV 301 ENVIRONMENTAL REMOTE SENSING (3,1,3)
This course introduces students to the principles of remote sensing. Theories of Geospatial Technologies, including global positioning systems (GPS) and remote sensing would be introduced. The course also introduces students to the theory and interpretation of remote sensing imagery, with emphasis on photographic, multi-spectral, thermal, and microwave remote sensing systems. Students would be introduced to the practical aspects of remote sensing and how to use it to capture and analyze spatial data.
ENDV 303 LOCAL GOVERNANCE AND DEVELOMENT I (3,1,3)
This course is to expose students to the concept of decentralization, its role and responsibilities in service delivery to the people at the district level. It seeks to equip students to understand the politics, development issues and challenges of decentralized administration. Topics to be addressed include the following: major forms of decentralization–deconcentration, delegation, privatization and devolution, administration and political decentralization dichotomy, decentralization and governance, power, poverty alleviation and development.
ENDV 305 REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF AFRICA I (3,1,3)
It focuses on the physical environment and how it influences the development of Africa; the people of Africa, ethnicity, and independence and their regional implications. Issues that would be treated include population, agriculture, tourism and environment. Regional economic growth and systems of transformation, migration, and regional study of some selected regions of Africa are given detailed consideration.
ENDV 307 RESEARCH METHODS I (3,1,3)
It focuses on the scientific approach to academic research. By the end of the course, students would have been introduced to the processes of research, reviewing literature, formulating a research problem, identifying key variables – predictive and outcomes, constructing hypothesis, selecting a study design, identifying data collection techniques, sampling procedures, data analysis frameworks and interpretation of research results.
ENDV 309 PROJECT MANAGEMENT I (2,1,3)
To provide students with understanding in the role of projects in the development process and to help equip them with the necessary skills for project identification, preparation, projects analysis and the preparation of feasibility studies. Based on the above, students shall be introduced to the following: the role of projects in the development process; project proposal; techniques of project identification; project reparation/preparing the project document; project analysis (technical analysis); project analysis (economic analysis) and preparing a feasibility study.
ENDV 311 POLITICS AND DEVELOPMENT I (3,1,3)
The course will examine the most important features of the system of social production (mode of production) in Ghana and the attendant political and social features. In particular, the course examines: The transformation of earlier tributary or lineage modes of production in Ghana through colonialism and capitalist penetration into the present dependent capitalist mode; the attendant social strata and the socio-political and economic philosophies they articulate and the type of state organization and political institutions that have been built.

ENDV 313 WATER RESOURCES MANGEMNT AND DEVELOPMENT I (3,1,3)
The course provides a conceptual and quantitative understanding of hydrology and the basic principles of hydraulics as a basis for later applied studies of water quality assessment, water resources engineering and management. The course emphasizes the analysis and quantification of surface and groundwater hydrological processes, such as rainfall, evapo-transpiration, runoff, groundwater recharge, groundwater storage, groundwater movement and management of the water environment. It will also exposed students to the integrated water basin management model of analyzing water resources in Africa and Ghana.
ENDV 315 GENDER PERSPECTIVES OF DEVELOPMENT (3,1,3)
The main objective of this course is to discuss development issues within gender perspectives in development strategies. In doing this, students will be exposed to key concepts, definitions, analysis and approaches in Gender and Development. Students shall be introduced to gender and development theories. Also to be treated in this course will be gender and reproductive health – birth control, contraceptives and education, gender differentials, women status and other indicators.
ENDV 317 LOCAL GOVERNANACE AND ENVIRONMENT I (3,1,3)
This course is to expose students to the concept of decentralisation, its role and responsibilities in service delivery to the people at the district level. It seeks to equip students to understand the politics, development issues and challenges of dichotomy, decentralisation and governance, power, poverty alleviation and development in local environmental governance.
ENDV 319 ORGANISATIONAL BEHAVIOUR (3,1,3)
The relevant areas of concern for the study are socialization into organization, leaderships and leadership styles, power and influence, conflict management, communication, decision – making and stress management. Also for consideration will be individual differences, sources of social influence on behaviour as well as the theories underpinning them. The process of motivation, traditional human relations and human resource organizational culture and components of organizational culture will be treated.
